Five NEW Apps for iTouch
9:17 PM by Matt
Though there was plenty of other news at the Macworld Keynote today, iPod Touch users got a little love thrown their way today -- for a price. Steve Jobs announced that effective immediately, there are five new apps available for the Touch: Mail, Stocks, Notes, Weather, and Maps. Oh, and it will set current iTouch owners back $20. Not that bad of a price for five different applications.
* Preview mail before you open it, display grapics and photos inline, and view HTML, PDF, Word, and Exel attachments.
* Stocks, Weather, and Notes all appear as widgets on your home screen.
* Google Maps determines your approximate location if Wi-Fi is on and gives you directions, marks specific locations, and has both hybrid and satellite maps to show you the way.

How'd You Find This?
6:58 AM by Matt
Happy New Year to anyone dropping in from around the web! Just a few announcements. I know that this website has been neglected for quite some time, but it was hard to update with school and other things that had to be done first. Now I have no classes and full time to work on this website. Look for new posts every day and maybe even a redesign of the website and a dedicated domain.
I just would really like to know how you came across this website though. Just leave a simple (even anonymous) comment on what site brought you here or what you searched to find me. This would be a great help in determining where to go next with this site.
As always your suggestions for articles and tutorials are greatly appreciated. Look for a new article later today about something groundbreaking for the iPod Touch.

Yellowpages for iTouch / iPhone
9:51 PM by Matt
The famous Yellow Pages phone directory, owned by Apple partner AT&T, is now available in a format specifically made for the iPhone and iTouch. Users must navigate to the Yellow Pages website via the Safari browser, where a formatted version of the site appears that allows users to quickly start a search or input a place and category.
The site also provides access to ratings, maps and directions, and in the case of the iPhone, the ability to dial a number directly from a listing.
AT&T says it has also made available an optimized WAP website, a downloadable client for 20 other AT&T phones, and the ability to text a search query to YP411. Conversely, users browsing the website can have results texted to a cellphone, complete with driving directions. +1 for AT&T and Apple.

Don't Need a Computer!
12:47 PM by Matt
Just this morning, many hackers released a very easy way to jailbreak your iPhone. In fact, you don't even need your computer! Just go to Safari and then to go jailbreakme.com. At the bottom of the page, just select "JailBreak Me" and then Safari will quit, bringing you to the home screen. Do not touch your iPhone until you see the "Slide to Unlock" page. When you next see the home screen, it will have Installer.app waiting right there for you to use it. You might have to restart your phone if it seems slow. Jailbreaking puts your Phone in a state of letting files be able to be written to it, so 3rd party apps can be installed.

Stacks for iPod Touch
12:39 PM by Matt
One of the new features of OSX Leopard is the ability to create a group on your dock and when selected a certain group of icons pops up. For example you can create a stack called 'Daily' and make it all of the programs you use daily and frequently. This provides easy access to your most used programs. So why not make this for the iPhone / iTouch? Well someone has and here is a video of it. Just wait until the SDK is released in February and you will see such outstanding programs. If I do find the link to this app on the net I will post here so check back or subscribe to my RSS feed.

Let's Fix Your Wi-Fi
5:46 AM by Matt
So you are connected to a nice speedy Wi-Fi network and all of a sudden something goes wrong and you can't connect anymore. Well this stinks, but its not that hard to fix this problem. Here are a few things to try out to get your wi-fi up and running again:
Renew DHCP Lease
This is a problem that occurs usually with paid hotspots (airports and coffee shops).
1. Tap Settings -> Wi-Fi Networks.
2. In the DHCP Panel, click the Renew Lease button.
EDGE, But no Wi-Fi?
If it looks like you are connected to Wi-Fi and you go browsing and then you get switched to EDGE. This can be caused by MAC Address Filtering or an incorrect WEP Password.
-WEP Password?
1. Tap Settings -> Wi-Fi.
2. Tap More Info next to the Wi-Fi network giving you problems and then tap 'Forget This Network'.
3. Try accessing it again and enter the correct WEP Password.
-No WEP Password?
1. Tap Settings -> General -> About.
2. Enter Wi-Fi Address into router's filter.
3. See the documentation that came with your wireless router for additional information.
